Patients will find that I use a comprehensive, approach to medicine using a combination of clinical experience, common-sense and good science. ??This is the basis for any good approach to healthcare. ???Conventional medicine discourages the use of common-sense and relies heavily on clinical experience backed by evidence-based medicine. ?While there is nothing wrong with evidence-based medicine for pharmaceuticals and surgical procedures, it is often misused when it comes to proving the use of alternative therapies. ?There is a lot of bad science out there and a need for people to think outside the box.
I am very focused on helping people help themselves and I gauge my success on results. ?If a patient is getting results then they can get on with their lives. ?If not, we need to change the approach and further ?identify the obstacles to healing.
Each patient is an individual and should be treated as such. ?I end up taking many of the patients through the same steps, but I attend to their individual needs as we go. ?I start with the basics; diet and ??exercise, which usually play the largest roles in any illness. ?I then consider cleansing and detoxification, nutritional components, weight loss, and hormone replacement therapy if necessary. ?Next is a ?maintenance phase which usually takes the longest amount of time as this requires the patient to implement and re-implement lifestyle changes. ??Along the way, patients learn how to listen to their bodies so they can maintain their new found health.
Prolotherapy ? This is an injection therapy developed by George Hackett in the 1950’s and 60’s which uses irritant solutions and a numbing agent to decrease pain and create inflammation in a joint that ultimately aids the body in laying down new ligament tissue and tightening the joint. ?I enjoy this therapy because it works incredibly well and is relatively easy on the patient.
Brain chemistry support
This is a therapy that is much more powerful than it sounds and I use extensively, because the brain drives every function in the body. ?We have great success with many conditions, and, with only a few months of therapy people can quit taking anti-depressants, stop having symptoms of depression, anxiety, irritability, sexual dysfunction, high blood pressure, fatigue, insomnia, jaw pain and migraine headaches.
Cleansing and detoxification
We live in a very toxic world. ?Anyone who cares to debate the can go to the CDC website and download the latest statistical information. ?People often ask why some are more affected than others and my answer is always the same: ?there is a genetic predisposition combined with an environmental exposure or trigger for everything that happens to us. ?We are all toxic to varying degrees and we need to be able to efficiently get rid of those toxins so that we can continue to function on a high level. ?I use cleansing in most of my patients who are chronically ill, and I always consider the need for heavy metal testing if applicable. ?I think in 20 years cleansing and detoxification will be mainstream therapies.
Hormone Replacement Therapy
I use individually-made (compounded) Bio-identical hormone prescriptions to help men and women achieve hormone balance and help them feel normal. ?Bio-identical hormone replacement or (BHRT) can be useful in regulating menstrual cycles in females, improve sexual function and physical stamina in males, and is often used in post-menopausal females to help with the aging process.
General Nutritional therapy
Many chronic issues are caused by poor diet and inadequate exercise but are also a result of nutritional deficiencies. ?These deficiencies are sometimes discovered in blood tests and corrected accordingly, other times we use clinical experience to determine the need for nutritional support when a person presents with chronic conditions.
Conditions I treat
Almost everything. ?If you are ill, out of shape, tired, depressed or in pain, I can help you. ?If I can’t help you, I will find someone who can.
Exceptions: ?I am not a pediatrician. ?I do work with children but I don’t do vaccinations, and I don’t do well-baby checks. ?I believe all children should be seen by pediatricians as they are specialists in diagnosing children. ?In my opinion, supportive therapy is best left to a Naturopathic physician.
